Honorary Patriots announced for 2025

The Seaford 9/11 Memorial Committee is proud to announce the 2025 Honorary Patriot Award recipients are Lisa Garcia, Shari Raduazzo, and Peter J. Ruffner.These individuals have made significant contributions to the Seaford schools and community.The new Honorary Patriots are representative of the lives and spirit of the school’s alumni who perished on September 11, 2001. Seaford’s five alumni are Tommy Haskell (FDNY, SHS ‘82), Timmy Haskell (FDNY, SHS ‘85), John Perry (NYPD, SHS ‘82), Robert Sliwak (Cantor Fitzgerald, SHS ‘77) and Michael Wittenstein (Cantor Fitzgerald, SHS ‘85).Lisa, Shari and Peter will be honored at the annual Patriot Award dinner along with the five graduating SHS seniors receiving the Patriot Award.  This dinner will be held on Monday, June 23rd at the Crest Hollow Country Club. 2024 Honorary Patriots Announced

Since 2002, the 9/11 Seaford Memorial Committee has awarded 59 Honorary Patriot awards to individuals, nominated by the public, in honor of the five Seaford HS alumni lost on September 11, 2001.  This year the committee has selected

Sergio DeCiantis, Rev. Joseph H. Fitzergerald and Kevin P. O’Reilly

as the new 2024 Honorary Patriots.

They received the Honorary Patriot award on Monday, June 24, 2024 at the Crest Hollow Country Club. 

The 2023 Honorary Patriot award has been presented to Nick Bilotta, Elaine Tamsen, and Joe Mottola (SHS ’81).

 

Honorary Patriot Award Overview

Since 2002, the Honorary Patriot Award has been presented annually to individuals nominated by the public and selected by the Seaford 9/11 Memorial Committee in honor of the five Seaford alumni lost on September 11, 2001: Thomas Haskell (’82), Timothy Haskell (’85), John Perry (’82), Robert Sliwak (’77), and Michael Wittenstein (’85).

Eligibility is based on the following criteria:

  • The Honorary Patriot Award recipient can be an individual who is representative of the spirit and lives of our five alumni who were lost on September 11, 2001.
  • The Honorary Patriot Award recipient can be an individual who has made significant contributions to the Seaford schools, community, or 9/11 Memorial.
  • The Honorary Patriot Award recipient can be an individual who is a Seaford graduate who has gained distinction.
  • The Honorary Patriot Award recipient can be an individual who has made significant contributions to society.
  • The Honorary Patriot Award recipient can be a former Patriot Award recipient who has gained distinction.
